At Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation, we proudly acknowledge and celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025, marking a powerful milestone of 50 years! A time to reflect on five decades of cultural pride, resistance, and growth.

NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration that takes place in the first full week of July, dedicated to recognising the history, culture, and achievements of First Nation People.

It stands for the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee.

The roots of NAIDOC Week can be traced back to the Day of Mourning protest in 1938 and evolved into a full week in 1975.

NAIDOC matters because it is more than a moment, it is a movement! It offers a powerful opportunity for everyone to learn about the beautiful culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, celebrations through language, dance, and art, as well listening to First Nation voices, through truth-telling stories.

This year’s theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy is about celebrating the achievements of the past and looking forward to the future, led by strong young people, the vision of our communities, and shaped by the legacy of our ancestors.

As we celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC Week, we proudly support the next generation of leaders, artists, healers, educators and changemakers.

Real change begins with awareness and action.
