Ongoing Care for Country, Community, and Animals

Have you ever wondered what we do behind the scenes at Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation?

We share some exclusive insights!

Dear Community Members, Partners, and Friends,

We are proud to share the positive insights and outcomes of the work undertaken by us in the very remote Pilbara.

We work alongside partners like AMRRIC (Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities) to support the health and well-being of Aboriginal community members and their animals in remote areas.

From basic health checks and worm and parasite treatments, to desexing and rehoming puppies. These visits are a vital part of our commitment to creating healthier, safer, and stronger communities.

Where have we been recently:

From 26 May to 1 June 2025, our Environmental Health team, along with AMRRIC’s dedicated veterinary professionals, travelled to 4 Aboriginal communities in the Pilbara to deliver the essential animal welfare services as required on community.

Highlights by numbers:

Desexed animals: 48

Unborn Puppies euthanised: 33

Puppies rehome: 7

Days in the Pilbara: 7

Communities: 4

Why this program matters:

“This program demonstrates the continuous need for free, accessible, and sustained animal health care services in remote communities. Regular desexing and veterinary outreach programs reduce pressure on community members and lead to a healthier environment for people and animals alike. Such programs create heathier environments for both animals and people and reinforce the critical role of culturally informed community driven health practices.” – Toni Morisson Environmental Health Coordinator

This is why we are in desperate need of a sponsor or a partner to continue with this program!

Please, get in touch with us if your company or organisation is interested in supporting Aboriginal communities’ health and animal welfare.

A huge THANK YOU to all community leaders/councils/chairs, volunteers, and veterinary staff whose contribution made this program possible and so impactful.
